James begins his "How To" manual for the life we've been created to live with what appears to be some insanity. However, when we study what James is saying we find that a life of transcendent happiness beyond care, labor, and death (the "blessed" life...the "Makarios" life) is possible only when we learn to tenaciously stand and face all the difficult things life throws at us. God promises to NEVER leave us or forsake us...so we can stand tenacious KNOWING He is right by our side.

The 2nd message in our "The Book of James - Genuine Faith" series...

James - Genuine Faith

James - Genuine Faith

October 21, 2019

Do you want to live the greatest life you could possibly live?

Building on Jesus' 8 beatitudes, we are moving into studying the book of James. James is basically a "How to" manual of practical applications of living the life Christ came, lived, died, and rose again that we might live.

James challenges followers of Jesus that if we have genuine faith, there will be real change in our lives and the lives of those whose lives intersect ours. If you want to live the greatest life you could possibly live, join us as we jump into the wisdom and practicality of James!

Light

After Jesus lays out His 8 beatitudes of how to live the new life He came so that we might live, He follows up with a challenge and a call for all those who follow Him to be salt and light in this world.

Unfortunately, we had technical difficulties last week, so there is no "Salt" recording. There is, however, this closing message to our "New Creation" series about what Jesus meant when He says, "You are the light of the world..."

The Persecuted

The Persecuted

October 1, 2019

It is no accident that Jesus moves from “Blessed are the peacemakers…” to “Blessed are those who are persecuted.” However hard we may try to make peace with some people, they refuse to live at peace with us.

These are the standards of conduct in the beatitudes…

  • Be Merciful – Offering compassion & forgiveness (even to those “undeserving”).
  • Be Pure in Heart – Refusing to compromise our convictions or integrity.
  • Be Peacemakers by identifying & curing “the disease of the soul” instead of just applying salve to symptoms.

When Christians live by these standards, we live at odds with the culture of our time because those values & standards stand in direct conflict with the contemporary culture. Therefore, because the culture of the world rejects these, they also reject those who are uncompromising of Christ & His values & standards.
