Merging Lives…
The Peacemakers

The Peacemakers

September 8, 2019

To best live this "New Creation" that Christ came to usher in, we first need to have a correct attitude toward God & be in right relationship with Him. Once we have that, then we can begin to enter into right relationship with each other. In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches us how to do that. The order of these beatitudes matter...In order to become peacemakers, we must first offer each other mercy, then be pure in heart. If we follow His teaching, we can truly begin to live in community as God designed us to live.

"The Peacemakers" is the 9th message in our newest series, "New Creation...", learning about the "beatitudes" from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

Pure in Heart…

Pure in Heart…

When Jesus says, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God", He is challenging us to a deeper and more exacting kind of self-reflection. Some people weave such a web of lies that they can no longer tell what is real and what is make-believe. Facing this reality, Jesus is calling us to acknowledge our motives for all that we do in this life. Our motives are the fuel that drives all that we say and do...they are our motivation. What kind of people are we going to be? Are we going to be real? Authentic? Vulnerable? Or are we going to hide behind our masks of lies and make-believe in an effort to fool others (& ourselves)?

One thing we know...we cannot fool God. He knows. And...He loves us anyways!

"Pure in Heart..." is the 8th message in our newest series, "New Creation...", learning about the "beatitudes" from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

The Merciful…

The Merciful…

September 1, 2019

In the 1st 4 beatitudes, Jesus laid out what our attitude is to be before God. Now, as we move into the 5th beatitude, He is laying out for us how we are to live in relationship with each other. "Blessed are the merciful..." raises the standard; the expectation on how we are to treat each other. Mercy is a combination of forgiveness and compassion. To be merciful is to be too aware of our own sin to deal too harshly with the sins of other people. We all have been given the gift of mercy by God. Now, what are we invited to do with the endless mercy He has given to us?

"The Merciful" is the 7th message in our newest series, "New Creation...", learning about the "beatitudes" from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.
